Jackson Evans of Silver Lining

Onstage and in the classroom Jackson Evans has become one of the most requested guitarists of the low country.

Jackson’s performance resume includes a variety of experiences including rock, funk and cover bands, pit orchestras and solo guitar. Since relocating to Savannah in 2004 he has co-lead Silver Lining, worked as a sideman for multiple a-list bands and led his own quintet. He has also worked as a staff accompanist for the Savannah Music Festival’s American Traditions Competition, performed as a featured artist at the Savannah Jazz Festival, organized several southeast tours and been invited to perform in numerous concert series. As a leader he has produced and recorded two full length albums; one with Silver Lining and another under his name with his quintet. Jackson has shared the stage with notable performers Ben Tucker (bass-Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, Herbie Mann, etc.), Mike Christiansen (guitar-Mel Bay Author/Recording Artist), Howard Paul (guitar-concert guitarist/clinician, ceo Benedetto Guitars) and many other outstanding musicians. In addition, Jackson is a published songwriter and lyricist.

For 2011-12, Jackson resides in Hangzhou, China where he works as the musical director for the house band at Friends Jazz Club.

As a teacher, Jackson has spent almost a decade maintaining a full private studio. He has instructed collegiate courses in beginning and intermediate guitar, conducted clinics and seminars and served as a mentor and teacher in secondary schools. He has developed and implemented curriculum for group guitar instruction in community programs. From 2004 Jackson has been on staff at Portman’s Southeast Music Academy where he instructs private lessons, group courses and camps.

Jackson is a BMI songwriter and endorses Benedetto guitars and Island Amplifiers. Be sure to check out the August 2009 issue of Just Jazz Guitar Magazine to read an interview with him.
